Stations

Goal: receive the right things (range filter), then read them clearly (list filters and detail).

What you receive#

Both filters live under Settings → Connection and decide whether packets can reach you at all:

  1. Receive range: r/lat/lng/radius, 300 km by default (10 km minimum). “Follow my position” centres it on you; press Save & apply after changing it.
  2. Receive preferences: tick countries/regions, plus the master switch for “also receive stations from unticked countries”. Exact callsigns are received even from outside the range.
  3. The “receive area” from the wizard is this same country list; nothing ticked = receive everything.
🧭

“Receiving nothing?” check these two before the link — the other way round wastes an evening: a station 400 km away cannot reach you through a 300 km filter however healthy the link is.

What you display#

The Stations tab adds a display filter on top (it does not affect receiving):

  • Status: online / moving / static — the “online window” is under Settings → Connection → Data caps (5 minutes by default).
  • Type: APRS type (mobile/fixed/relay/weather), software (APRSLocus), device class and exact model.
  • Favourites: starred stations get their own bucket.
  • Search: callsign / type / comment / grid — stays fast at tens of thousands (100k stations in memory by default, adjustable).
  • “View on map” switches back for you: the small map button in the list (or “View on map” in the detail sheet) returns to the Map tab, collapses the content panel and flies to that station — no need to tap “Map” yourself.
✅

Check: the list header shows the hit count; “clear filters” returns to everything. If the full list still lacks your target, it was never received (previous section), not hidden.

Detail & device ID#

  • Official device library: aprs.org’s aprsorg/aprs-deviceid (tocall) resolves vendor + model + class from the packet’s destination callsign (mobile/portable/tracker/app/iGate/relay/weather…); bundled snapshot plus online updates.
  • Other APRSlocus stations are marked automatically (version, battery, …); FMO stations are recognised too.
  • Detail page jumps out to the QRZ callsign database, aprs.fi for trails, and APRS.tv.
  • Symbols: 37 official tables, 3571 standard icons — official PNG first, Material icons as fallback.
  • Trail playback: play back that station’s track from its detail page (the history is stored locally).
